We often choose blissful ignorance over practicality. In a sense, a type of dare-devilish recklessness that only a few of us have the unfortunate or fortunate addiction to. Unfortunately, that usually comes at a price and the price is rarely cheap or painless. Helmets save lives. We know that. It’s no secret. Yet people still seem to forget to wear them sometimes. Perhaps it’s because they consider them “dorky” or “uncool” or “overprotective” but the undeniable truth is that they are absolutely needed not just to keep us safe from ourselves and our own “shreddiness” if I may, but from other people in bigger vehicles being well, people. People in cars, motorycles, trucks; you name it.
Enter scene: You’re blazing down the street or sidewalk. They pull out of a driveway. You hit your head on the pavement. It all happens so fast. You get the picture. It doesn’t end well. Or how about this? You’re pinning it down a dusty single-track on your fully modded VESC and all of the sudden, a ‘quite typical’ mechanical failure sends you on the notoriously dreaded high-speed nose dive. The trail is narrow and you slam into a tree. Game over? Maybe? Could the serious repercussions of the fall been avoided? Absolutely.
So rather than me using this article to tell “everyone” that they are being “immature” or “recklessly dumb” or “plain ol’ stupid” for not wearing a helmet while hitting the trails or mobbing down some city or town across America, I will focus on something way, way cooler. Options. Below are some of the coolest, most protective, lightest and most ventilated racing helmets you can get right now. So keep your dome safe and look like a bad mofo in the process. Seems like a no-brainer. (pun totally intended) 😉

The outer layer, made of EPS foam, deals with high-speed impacts, while the inner EPP foam handles slower speed impacts, all while providing better ventilation than its competitors.
